Story
Cambridge Global Health Partnerships (CGHP) is a charitable organisation committed to improving healthcare globally. CGHP was born out of the belief that health should not be predetermined by where we live. Since 2007, we have been strengthening healthcare in low/middle-income countries (LMIC) settings through health partnerships.
Health partnerships are long-term links between health institutions in high and low/middle-income countries. Health partnerships facilitate the flow of ideas and expertise between the different healthcare systems to strengthen services and improve patient outcomes. Health partnerships achieve this through training programmes, based on the healthcare needs of the overseas partner.
How it works:
1. We foster and manage relationships with healthcare professionals (our partners) in public hospitals in LMICs, to identify and analyse their most pressing healthcare needs.
2. We build a team finding the most appropriate UK healthcare professionals to support partnership activities.
3. We work together with our overseas partners to co-design and co-deliver partnership activities including training and educational packages, learning opportunities and educational sessions for healthcare workers.
Since 2007, CGHP has gone on to establish a growing number of partnerships with Botswana, Uganda, El Salvador, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Myanmar covering specialities including trauma, maternal mortality and childhood cancer, among many others.
