💛Our teams are taking to the water to compete to be Cancer Fund for Children's Dragon Boat Race Champion 2024! Every pound raised will help Cancer Fund for Children ensure no child has to face cancer alone
Take Part in the Dragon Boat Race 2024 and help raise vital funds to enable Cancer Fund for Children to be there for children and families impacted by cancer when they need us most 💛 🌼
Every week, three children and young people (aged 0-24) are diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland, and many more are struggling to cope with their parent or sibling’s cancer diagnosis.
Cancer Fund for Children support children and young people impacted by cancer, either through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a parent or sibling.
The charity’s team of Cancer Support Specialists provide emotional and social support to children and young people impacted by cancer and their families at home, in hospitals across NI, in the community, and at their therapeutic short break centre Daisy Lodge.
Every year Cancer Fund for Children provides short breaks to around 450 families at Daisy Lodge, their therapeutic centre nestled at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Co. Down.
Here families impacted by cancer can spend time together in an environment far removed from hospital wards and treatment regimes, create memories together, meet other families going through a similar experience and benefit from the support of the charity’s therapeutic team.
It has been perfect. A safe space for the children to play independently. A place where parents don't have to worry about the chores of home and can concentrate on making fun memories. It has given us much needed family time and a little escape from the norm.
Check out our video below to see just how magical Daisy Lodge is for families when dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis.
