Visit the charity's profileThe Cultural Fire Club was created to center indigenous perspectives of fire as both a means of land stewardship and as a cultural/community practice. In addition to sharing vital information about the role of fire in the main ecosystems, the club aims to remove the financial and social barriers indigenous youth face when entering the field of fire management, particularly in a cultural context.
The club's goal is to create a stockroom of firefighting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that can be used by the club, students, and other indigenous youth in the community for years to come. This would include fire-grade boots, clothing, helmets, etc. Storing this equipment specifically for Indigenous students and local youth will open opportunities that are otherwise much more difficult to overcome and encourage participation in their own cultural land stewardship practices. Other goals include covering fees required with training such as prescribed fire training exchanges, along with travel costs and other expenses.
