Story
Following the success of our Celtic Sleep Out, London events in 2017 and 2018, the event will return for the third consecutive year and will take place on Saturday, November 30.
The event, which is an integral element of our Christmas Appeal, will take place once again in the grounds of St Anne's Primary School in Whitechapel and the venue holds huge historical and emotional significance for the Celtic Family.
In 1892, five years after his leading role in the formation of Celtic Football Club, the Marist Order moved Brother Walfrid from Glasgow to the Whitechapel area of London's East End. Over the next 15 years, as Head Teacher at St Anne's Primary, Brother Walfrid transformed the school and also established local boys' clubs and a project to provide meals to the poor in the local community.
In honour of our Founding Father, the London Sleep Out participants will spend the night from 9.00pm to 5.00am battling the elements outdoors, under the stars, all for a wonderful cause.
Each participant is tasked with raising a minimum of £130 (after entry fee) and all funds raised will support our 2019 Christmas Appeal, which reflects the very essence of why our Club was set up back in 1887.
The Appeal will help local families and pensioners who face poverty and hardship and a number of charities who care for those experiencing the torment of homelessness or other disadvantage.
So please follow in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid and help us make a difference to the most vulnerable in our community this Christmas.
