Story
Mixteca has been supporting the Sunset Park community since the early days of the AIDS crisis 20 years ago. Mixteca is a second home for Spanish-speaking immigrant families to receive social-emotional support, education, and leadership skills necessary to achieve sustainable livelihoods and thrive in New York City. Celebrations always have a place in our home.
Please help us advance our purpose to enrich, equip, and empower the Latinx Community in Brooklyn and beyond by creating a fundraiser to mark your special occasion or celebration. Share your page with friends and family and ask them to donate in your honor.
The funds will support Mixtecas ongoing programming, including:
Mental Health Services: Serving and teaching others about appropriate communication and stress management techniques, especially in families that have experienced domestic gender-based violence
Physical Health Services: Providing culturally-informed services that promote public health through educational programs and preventative efforts
Education + Skill Building: Increasing income generation capacity and financial literacy, providing ESOL, literacy, and computer classes, offering skills-based training for finding and maintaining a desirable job and supplementing income
Immigrant Justice + Advocacy: Developing abilities and strategies to advocate for social justice, facilitating referrals to legal services, alleviating the negative effects of isolation by bringing people together, offering practical support, and promoting community
Thank you and Felicitaciones!
