The Q-Institute: A bespoke building

The Q-Institute is the necessary next step to allow CEI to achieve financial independence, develop and enrich our current content, broaden the scope of our work and further widen access to the Qur’an.

The Institute will be housed in a state-of-the-art building with teaching and research facilities as well as a café, art gallery, Qur’an library and members’ lounge all designed to nurture the desire and provide the means for understanding, researching and making the Qur’anic and Islamic sciences accessible to people with or without the Arabic language.   .

Q-Institute will serve both the grass roots and academic communities with dedicated programmes and facilities for digital, podcast and social media content production to enrich the wider community and culture.

The Institute will be mixed use and financially sustainable, incorporating diverse income streams such as residential and commercial units.

In the heart of London

Central London is at the social, cultural and academic heart of the English speaking world and is accessible to people from the around the country and world at large.

The Q-Institute will be located in the Knowledge Quarter of Central London so that it can make use of all the city has to offer to achieve its purpose of increasing engagement with the Qur'an.

Our aim is to establish the means for accessible, serious engagement with the Qur'an in the heart of London and thereby weave it into the cultural and social fabric of the country and wider world.

Putting the Qur'an front and centre

The Messenger of Allah blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said: "The best of you is he who learns the Qur'an and teaches it." And he also said: "Allah has family from among mankind." The Companions asked: "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The people of the Qur'an; they are the people of Allah and His elect."

The Quran highlights the need to contemplate it in a deep and profound way: ‘Will they not contemplate the Qur’an, or do they have locks on their hearts?’ (Q. 47:24)

The Qur’an mandates reflection and demands that its audience seriously engages with it, not simply read it. Establishing the Q-Institute in central London will enable us to put the Qur’an in it’s rightful place: front and centre.

Teaching, Research and Community Hubs

Teaching: The Q-Institute will house teaching facilities to accommodate and support the expansion of our long-established weekly programmes to promote a deeper understanding of the Qur’an.

Research: The Q-Institute will create a Qur’an centred research community in the heart of London, and will be home to a members’ lounge and a comprehensive working library of Qur’anic material.

Community: The Q-Institute will be a nexus for a growing community of people dedicated to engaging the Qur’an with facilities for socialising and networking as well as teaching and learning.
