Story
Canine Concern invites you to take part in our very own unprecedented challenge, which we hope will help keep you occupied during this lockdown and prepare you for a Christmas which might be different, but still exciting and caring.
100 year old veteran, Sir Captain Tom, started his amazing challenge at the beginning of lockdown to walk 100 times around his garden, a target that was chosen as it represented his age. Many others have since followed his example and raised money to help needy causes through their own challenges.
Our charity was founded by Eve Waring in February 1988, who gave herself the challenge of setting up a supportive group of volunteers and their dogs, which means that in February 2021 our charity will have been helping people for 33 years. (Which is why we decided to use the figure 33 in our challenge)
Our campaign is open to anyone of any age, whether a member, friend, relative or maybe someone who has benefitted from our work. The only requirement is that the activity must follow the current Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.
In times of lockdown and uncertainty, giving yourself a challenge is a useful coping mechanism, and although this is essentially a fundraising activity, please dont feel you need to donate. If your finances are tight at the moment, we quite understand, so just enjoy your challenge. The importance of this activity is to have fun! We want you to challenge yourself mentally or physically, to help get through these crazy times.
We wish festive greetings to you and your loved ones, and gratitude to our members and all that support us. Please take care and we look forward to hearing about your personal challenges involving the number 3, 3.3 or 33!
