Story

The Causeway to Cape Challenge will be taking place this July. This challenge involves travelling the distance from the North Coast of Ireland to George, South Africa (14225km). We are asking individuals to walk or run a distance of your choice (2k-5k-10k) every day in July to collectively complete this challenge and help us raise much needed funds.

Throughout the lockdown period the largest concern for our students was not the spread of Covid-19 but the lack of food and financial support for their families. At the beginning of lockdown South Africa's unemployment rate shot from 29% to 50%, leaving 28.5 million people without income. During this time we used our financial resources to provide weekly food vouchers to all our students and their families, ensuring that their basic nutritional needs were met.

Unfortunately, due to the lockdown and social distancing laws, we have had to cancel and/or postpone three of our major fundraising events during the last three months. We are hopeful that this event will help us to raise sufficient funds to complete the 2020 academic school year.
