Story

‘Catwalk for a Cause’, return to the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday 10th February 2024. The successful fundraising event raised £74,500 for Highland Hospice and the End of Life care Together charity in February 2023.

Brought to the charity by its organiser Head Gardener's Salon Director, Alison McRitchie, the glitzy event showcases models sharing their own personal experiences. The event is incredibly close to heart for Alison, owner of the successful Head Gardener hair salon in Inverness, as she herself has battled with breast cancer.

She explained, “Catwalk for a Cause is so special in that it gives a platform to brave individuals from throughout the Highlands, each sharing their story about how their life has been affected by cancer or other life-limiting illness. It’s both emotional and uplifting as it gives these deserving people the opportunity to glam up and feel good on the catwalk. A celebration of life, as well as a tribute to those no longer with us. I can’t wait to bring it back!”

Next year’s event will be hosted by STV’s Nicola McAlley, joined by popular local broadcaster Pennie Stuart who shared her own experience of breast cancer last year when she was one of the event’s models.

Highland Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol said, “We honestly can’t thank Alison enough for bringing this fabulous event back in support of Highland Hospice and end of life together partnership. The incredible amount raised last year surpassed all expectations – we were genuinely blown away by the generosity of everyone, particularly our event sponsors who we are delighted to say will play such a supporting role in our 2024 event.”

Thank you to everyone involved in the events success, every donation is so gratefully received and will make a real difference to anyone living in the Highlands who needs our support.
