Visit the charity's profileLivability helps people to become more confident, motivated and independent - we enable people with disabilities to thrive. We work to change whats unliveable we help people tackle and overcome the barriers in their lives, including any that prevent them participating fully in society, because this negatively affect peoples wellbeing and life expectancy. Our services strive to transform how people with disabilities connect with the communities they choose to be part of.
People with disabilities have been disproportionately affected by Covid-19; should they contract Covid-19 it is highly likely to result in severe illness with potential life-threatening complications. This is reflected in the Office for National Statistics (February 2021) showing two thirds of Covid-19 deaths were in people with disabilities.
Your support in taking part in the Rourke Cycles Cat & Fiddle Challenge enables us to add real value to the amazing people we are privileged to support at Livability.
This is what your participation and fundraising in the Cat & Fiddle can do...
£12 could hire a wheelchair accessible bike for 2-hours
£50 could buy arts and crafts for fun, stimulating activities
£350 could fund therapy donkey visits that spread such joy to people we support
£850 could buy a NeuroBall to help acquired brain injury patients regain movement
Ian fell off a ladder in 2015, suffering a traumatic brain injury. A former music teacher with Suffolk County Music Service, Ian was unable to walk and used a wheelchair when he arrived at Livability Icanho for treatment. As a result of the therapies Ian received at specialist brain injury centre Icanho, he is walking short distances again.
"I am "cycling" from John O'Groats to Land's End for Livability because of the huge impact that Icanho has had on my rehab" Ian said - he has taken on a virtual 1,000 mile challenge on an adapted bike - clocking around 20-miles a week, he has clocked-up 400 miles now - you can read his inspiring story here: Ian's UK "Top to Toe" cycle challenge
