The Castlefield Charitable Fund
The Castlefield Charitable Fund supports charities in the Greater Manchester area providing a positive impact to the local community and environment in the following key focus areas:
- Preventing homelessness
- Support for vulnerable families and children (immediate need & education)
- Health and wellbeing
- Environment and sustainability
For 2023, Castlefield co-owners have selected four charities to support, which will be recipients of our fundraising activities while also being awarded a grant from the Fund:
Booth Centre
The Booth Centre is a community centre run with people affected by homelessness. The Booth Centre provides a warm welcome, an opportunity to belong, to gain a purpose and rebuild lives. Its programme includes activities such as volunteering, creative projects and sports, as well as training and help to gain employment. The Booth Centre also support people to improve health and wellbeing, to access emergency accommodation, and to secure and maintain a permanent home.
Greater Manchester Youth Network
For many young people, the transition to adulthood is not easy. In the UK, one third of young people are lonely, half feel unready for work and half feel like they do not belong to their community. Greater Manchester Youth Network's vision is #YoungPeopleCan and the Network helps young people in Greater Manchester overcome this. GMYN deliver a range of development programmes and drop-in activities to help young people transition to adulthood feeling skilled, supported and positive.
Walthew House
Walthew House is an independent charity in Stockport which works with people and organisations in the community to provide practical and emotional support for people with a sight or hearing loss. It provides counselling services and training sessions as well as a Hospital Information Service based in the Low Vision Clinic at Stepping Hill Hospital.
EMERGE
EMERGE's vision is a world where Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are second nature. A world where people dont go hungry. A world where people cherish and innately value natural resources. EMERGE has been at the front line of sustainability and 3Rs practice in Greater Manchester for over two decades, improving peoples lives and upskilling our wider community in the process. Its charitable activities include running the Greater Manchester operations of FareShare GM in partnership with the national food surplus charity, and a successful Volunteering and Employability Programme. The charity is supported by sister social enterprise EMERGE Recycling which also runs innovative reclaimed timber workshop Touch Wood.
