Story
Dear Cartha RFC Members
As of 21st March 2020, according to government guidelines and to assist in minimising the spread of Covid-19, Cartha QP RFC closed the clubhouse doors for the foreseeable future. The suggested closedown period as recommended by Scottish Rugby is likely to run until July 2020.
As a community rugby club, we are very conscious of our social responsibility and the need to protect the public. Our members range from the very young to the very old (don't tell him we said that!) and we embrace the need to do our part to reduce the spread of the virus, whatever it costs us as a Community Amateur Sports Club. However, club finances rely heavily on income from the clubhouse bar and the multiple functions, facilities hires and events that take place during the summer months in order to survive and to continue to provide rugby at Cartha for all ages from P1 to Shawlands & the Shawlands Sharks social team, meaning we face a difficult year ahead. Additionally, we are very conscious that many members will have significantly reduced income due to the implications of the 'lockdown' and we will not allow this to prevent them from receiving the many benefits of club rugby.
Can you help? We are hoping to collect donations in order to assist in stabilising our position at this uncertain time. Perhaps you could donate the cost of the drink you aren't drinking in front of the rugby that isn't being played? Or help to cover the cost of a month's membership for somebody who has lost their income during this period? Any and all donations (and the accompanying gift aid if eligible) would help secure the coming season and onwards to the future as well as allowing us to continue to support our staff during the closure.
Thanks in advance for your support - I hope that you and yours are keeping safe and well .
