Carter is 6 and half years old from Grimsby. He was born deathly white and was whisked away from us as he wasn't breathing and his organs were shutting down. After 3 minutes he took his first breath. Carter spent 9 weeks in hospital with undiagnosed TTTS having endured a stroke in utero. on various types of oxygen and had problems with all of his organs. He came home on oxygen and with a ng tube for feeding.
Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare pregnancy condition affecting identical twins or other multiples. TTTS occurs in pregnancies where twins share one placenta (afterbirth) and a network of blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients essential for development in the womb.
Fortunately, Carter has now overcome all his organ problems and they are working how they should be but he has an additional diagnosis of PVL and right sided hemi cerebral palsy. We were told Carter wouldnt eat, drink, walk or talk. Thankfully, after years of intense therapies including physio, occupational, hydro and speech and language Carter can now walk unaided, eat and drink fully and has a speech delay but is improving all the time.
However, specialist therapy and treatment is not cheap and Just4Children need to continue the fundraising for Carter.
We thank you for your support.
