Story
Welsh Women’s Aid is the national charity in Wales working to end domestic abuse and all forms of violence against women. We campaign for and provide advice, support and training on policy and service improvements for survivors, families, and communities. Our federation of specialist organisations provide lifesaving services to survivors of abuse and a range of preventative services. We deliver the Live Fear Free Helpline funded by Welsh Government, and a National Training Service. The voice of the survivor is central to all we do.
Thank you for raising awareness of Welsh Women’s Aid. A service that has helped me build my self-esteem and feel safe again. If you need some motivation during the marathon, think about the next woman who will escape following your strong footsteps - Survivor.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 children in Wales will experience abuse and violence at some point. This includes sexual violence, coercive controlling behaviour, forced marriage, sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, stalking or harassment. By supporting this fundraiser, you will help make sure that everyone impacted by abuse can access vital lifesaving and life changing services.
Together, we make sure survivors and their families are offered practical help, advocacy, counselling and support in a crisis and longer term. Violence against women and girls affects us all and is everybody's business; everyone has the right to live free from fear and abuse. Help us end domestic and sexual abuse in our lifetime by supporting us at the Cardiff Half Marathon 2024.
