Story

Pete Tomsett is running the 2024 Principality Cardiff Half Marathon on the 6th October 2024 and has chosen to use this as an opportunity to raise funds for the Edward Showler Foundation.

The 2024 running of the Cardiff Half Marathon will be the 21st anniversary of the event and the 5th time Pete has entered the event. Pete and along with almost 30,000 other participants will be running the iconic course that starts at Cardiff Castle and ends at Cardiff Civic Centre, in the heart of the capital.

The Edward Showler Foundation was set up in memory of Doctor Ed Showler.

Ed was a young doctor who was diagnosed with metastatic Clear Cell Sarcoma in 2017 and died just 8 months later at the age of 28.

Clear Cell Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that mainly affects young adults in their 20’s and 30’s and for which there is no effective treatment.

The Edward Showler Foundation is funding a research programme at University College London to better understand the disease and to provide new life saving treatments for Clear Cell Sarcoma patients.

Please help the Edward Showler Foundation meet its target by supporting Pete and making a donation through the link below.

Thank you!
