Child Action Northwest has been in existence for over 130 years, founded as Blackburn Orphanage in 1891! We have supported and changed the lives of children through two world wars, and more recently a global pandemic. Our head office is no longer used as an orphanage, however many of the issues that caused children to be placed there, sadly still exist today. This is why we continue to evolve to meet the needs of the children, young people, families and communities across the North West.

COVID-19 has presented us with many challenges and this is where we need your support and why we are appealing to you now. In the first 6 month of the Covid-19 pandemic we saw our income reduce by £500,000, this is over 20% of our total income, lost when the demand for our services is higher than ever. We have continued to provide much needed support for children and families at the time they need it the most but we need your support to make sure we can continue to do this. Our main fundraising events have been cancelled due to the pandemic but with the 130 challenge you can support us to be able to put the money where it is needed most to directly provide services for children and families in need and show that the community really does care.

The 130 challenge is for all ages and abilities. Think of an activity based around the numbers 1, 3 & 0 and complete it within the next twelve months. It could be something as simple as running 1.3 miles, 130 minutes of yoga, or singing karaoke for 130 minutes - or on second thoughts, maybe just 1.3 minutes! We are looking for Home Heroes and you can make it as fun or creative as you wish!

There are no rules (apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this ). Whatever you can do, you can be part of it the main thing is getting active, having fun and donating whatever you can to help Child Action Northwest. Whether you're running around the garden for 1.3 miles, doing 130 press ups with the dog on your back or bench pressing 13 kilos with your kids, we would love you to get involved! You have 12 months to complete your challenge! Good Luck!
