Story
#CANCERSUCKS doesn't it? We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and we are proud to help 600 children a year going through cancer treatment by providing them with lightweight bikes, specially adapted trikes, tandems and support to help them in their rehabilitation. Approximately 2,400 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK and we are passionate about promoting the benefits of appropriate exercise and activity and supporting these families along this difficult journey.
11 year old Sophie has ALL and is now on maintenance therapy. Her family applied for a bike as the chemotherapy and steroids left her with ongoing leg pains and avascular necrosis to her left knee meaning her bones are weak. Mum says,
I would like to say a massive thank you to you all. Sophie was so excited when she saw her bike. The perfect choice too as it was her favourite colour! Though she was a little nervous to start with her confidence soon grew and she loved her first outing on her bike. She hasn't been on a bike since she became poorly 2 years ago. He bike will now be a major part of her recovery. Having problems with her knees means exercise is tricky and trying to stop a child from running, jumping, hopping, skipping etc is tough but this bike will give her freedom to exercise without causing damage. Thank you so much!
Any money that you can raise will go directly towards buying more bikes and trikes to children just like Sophie. You can read more stories about some of the mazing children we have helped on our website.
