NB Heritage is a volunteer run charity. Our aim is to conserve, enhance and celebrate all that is special about North Berwick – its townscape, heritage and setting.
We address a wide range of issues and we undertake projects aimed at enhancing historic buildings and features, celebrating our rich heritage, and supporting creative and cultural activities.
Our current projects include:
St Andrew Kirk Ports: we are leading the campaign to conserve this 17th-century ruined kirk. Our vision is to see this ‘picturesque ruin’ become an accessible and beloved community space.
Planning: established over 50 years ago, the charity encourages the sensitive management of change by monitoring and responding to planning policy proposals and planning applications. We support conservation of the historic environment and promote high standards of architecture and design.
pARTicipate: the arts collective, pARTicipate, is part of NB Heritage and has turned the unused telephone boxes on the High Street into a wonderful exhibition and public participation space. This microgallery now hosts a series of installations each year.
Heritage Guides: our growing series of heritage guides, available in the library and online, covers North Berwick’s lesser-known buildings and aspects of its fascinating heritage.
