Story
Brian is a great example of how Cambridge Online's service can transform lives. Living with enduring mental illness, Brian spent most of his time at a day centre, often dozing and disengaged from any activity. Encouraged by day centre staff and Cambridge Online, he enrolled in a ten-week computer literacy course alongside another service user.
Since then, Brian's confidence and skills have flourished. He now uses email to keep in touch with relatives, the internet to research his favourite music and TV shows, and a word processor to write letters and poems. Progressing from structured courses to drop-in sessions, Brian gradually became more independent.
Today, Brian is a confident mentor at our drop-in sessions, encouraging and supporting others to access and benefit from our services. His journey from isolation to empowerment highlights the profound impact of digital literacy and the importance of community support.
