Story

Thank you for supporting the 18th Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival in aid of Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust. Taking place on Saturday 7th September 2024, in the year of the Dragon, this fast paced event will see over 40 teams competing in the 200m racecourse, watched by several hundred spectators. Crews battle it out on the River Cam, at Fen Ditton, whilst spectators can enjoy the landside activities.

The Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival teams are a range of companies from across the region who are looking for a great team-building day out whilst supporting Addenbrookes Charitable Trust.

Up to 10 people paddle each boat with a drummer at the front beating time and on the helm at the tail steering a straight course. The Ditton Meadows location offers a superb venue and, as well as the exciting races, a range of bankside entertainment, food stalls, and fun activities guarantee a fabulous day out for all the family.

Funds raised through the 2024 Dragon Boat Festival will enable us to build the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.

The Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital will herald a transformative approach to cancer. Situated at the heart of Cambridge’s thriving life sciences eco-system, the brand-new hospital will unite the NHS, academia and industry in a powerful collaboration that will bring scientific discoveries and technological advances from the lab bench to the patient bedside as rapidly as possible. The Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital will pioneer new ways to detect cancer earlier and treat it in a more personalised way. The breakthroughs and innovations that we deliver will change the way cancer is treated far beyond Cambridge, benefiting people living with cancer across the UK and globally.

We rely on the generosity of our wonderful teams asking their friends, family, and colleagues for sponsorship to help us raise funds for the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. Thank you so much for your support in helping us to change the story of cancer.
