Story
Thomass London Day Schools links with Nepal originated in the 1950s when David Thomas, a founding Principal of Thomass, served for ten years as an officer in the 2nd King Edward VIIs Own Gurkha Rifles. The CAIRN Trust was founded in 2007, with the aim of supporting and enriching the education of children in rural Nepal.
CAIRN is driven by Thomass Foundation's vision that every child deserves an enriching education. CAIRN seeks to bring about this vision by focusing on and supporting quality education in the hill villages of rural Nepal.
CAIRN is committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education The UN states: Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to creating sustainable development
CAIRN carefully selects and monitors its projects, which are implemented through local, highly experienced NGO partners in Nepal. Relationships with these NGO partners are established, nurtured and monitored by CAIRNs Programme Director, who is accountable to the Executive Director, Chairman and Board of Trustees of Thomass Foundation.
CAIRN delivers its mission by focussing on three core programmes:
CAIRN Educational Awards
CAIRN Libraries
CAIRN Teacher Training
