Story
C2 the paediatric unit (children’s ward) at Russell's Hall Hospital delivers care to the children and young people of Dudley. The unit comprises of Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), in-patient beds, elective day case beds, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Children’s Outpatient Department (COPD) and Clinical Nurse Specialist Teams.
The Dudley Group NHS Charity which helps to support patients and staff across Russells Hall Hospital, Corbett and Guest Outpatient Centres, has kindly received a generous corporate donation to help refurbish the playroom.
Before the refurbishment the old playroom was outdated, uninviting with inadequate storage, as per above photos with multi-coloured paint work and wall stickers. Being in a chaotic area, can be overwhelming for some children which can lead to a stressful experience.
The new refurbished playroom is now a colourful and inviting area, with a fresh looking feel to the area. The new playroom will help relieve stress from the family but also help staff engage with the children to distract them while they are receiving treatment.
We still need your help, the generous donation covered the cost of the refurbishment, but we would really like to purchase new soft furnishing for the new playroom, which includes soft play building blocks for our smaller patients, arts and craft activities, toys and books for the reading corner.
