Story

Support Mental Health Awareness

In recognition of World Mental Health Day in October, Committed to Charleston(C2C), a student-led philanthropy group, is on a mission to promote awareness about the importance of mental health at the College of Charleston. But we’re not stopping there!

Throughout October, we're raising funds to support to the Lynn L. Moody Fund, which provides students at the College with vital mental health resources and services. And here’s the game changer—Scott Moody '91, along with other donors, have generously agreed to match every gift to the Lynn L. Moody Fund!

The Lynn L. Moody Fund was created by Scott Moody '91 and his family in honor of his late wife, Lynn Luckey Moody ’93, who tragically passed away in 2019.

“I believe that the majority of us are only now becoming aware of how common mental health issues are among college-age students. Their time at college is exhilarating, but it also brings with it significant highs and lows,” Moody says. “Following our family's tragedy, we were moved to take significant action to improve young people's mental health and prevent suicides.”

The generous donation match means your gift will go TWICE as far in making sure your student, along with their friends, classmates and peers have the resources they need to stay healthy and thrive.

In addition to raising funds, Committed to Charleston has partnered with the Office of Student Wellness and Well-being to share resources, tips and stories to help students prioritize their mental health. Together, we will ensure our friends, classmates and peers do not have to face mental health challenges alone.
