Will you help us write the next chapter in the history of To Kenya With Love ?

For more than 30 years we have been enabling some of the poorest children in Kisumu, Kenya’s third city, to receive an education they otherwise could not have afforded, and if we are to continue to do so we need to undertake a major building project.

Having started our first school in 1993 in a rented bungalow, it’s almost 20 years since we bought land in Manyatta, one of the poorest parts of town, and built our own Nursery and Primary school building, catering for 300+ children in eight classrooms. Recent changes in the Kenyan education system mean that if we are to continue to operate we need to establish a Junior High School building on it’s own separate site - this will cater for children formerly in the last 2 years of Primary and the first year of High School and provide dedicated areas equipped for Science and Domestic Studies. At the moment we are teaching these children in temporary classrooms on the existing site, and this cannot continue.

We have been fortunate to find a small plot of land immediately adjacent to the existing school, which thanks to the generosity of our loyal UK supporters we purchased last year. We now have architect’s plans and builder’s quotes for a single-storey building providing a Science Laboratory and Domestic Studies room as well as three standard classrooms, an office and toilet block. The cost of the project is £120,000 – a daunting amount for a small charity like ours. But we are committed to achieving this in order to continue to provide life-changing opportunities for these needy children and we hope you will help us.

Bricks cost £10 each, and there is no limit on how many you can buy.

All donors will have their name (or nominated name if buying as a gift), on an artwork displayed in the New school.
