Story
On Saturday 10th June a group of staff (including our CEO and her husband!), volunteers, supporters and one of the Hospice trustees are daring the cold water of Lake Windermere and entering into the Great North Swim. Each of us are challenging ourselves to swim mile in a bid to raise vital funds for Bury Hospice. We may not have a Rebecca Adlington, Sharon Davies, Ellie Simmonds or Michael Phelps on our team as yet but I can assure you each and every one of us entering the water will give it our best effort!
We already have a good group of people signed up to take part in the swim, if you think you fancy joining our team and want some more details please feel free to contact me directly: joannejohnson@buryhospice.org.uk or send me a message through Facebook and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Bury Hospice opened its doors in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care. It costs us on average £3.5m to run our services each year with only a 20% contribution from the NHS, the remainder is raised via our income generation streams which includes fundraising, retail and lottery. We really couldnt do the things we do without the ongoing support of our fundraisers and our amazing community.
