Bunny Hop is back! Choose the date, location, and distance of your Bunny Hop, and raise vital funds for Birmingham Hospice.

The money raised through Bunny Hop will help Birmingham Hospice to provide expert palliative and end of life care to people across the city. You will be helping to ensure the best hospice care is available for all patients, families, and carers across our community, wherever and whenever they need it.

In September 2021 Martin Pettitt was diagnosed with prostate cancer and soon required the support of Donna, a member of our Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team.

Martin’s family were grateful for the regular calls and visits from Donna, his son Scott saying, “She would always make sure we all had everything we needed and came over whenever she could to help us and my Dad with his pain management.”

Soon after, with Martin’s condition deteriorating, he was moved into the hospice to receive the round the clock care required. Initially, Martin found the idea of staying at the hospice worrying, thinking it was a place ‘you went to die’.

Scott added: “He soon realised he was comfortable there and was keen to stay. My Dad loved all the all the nurses on the ward; he got on with every single one of them. He always had great things to say about them.”

Martin died in his home in January this year, the place he had chosen to be in his final moments. Scott went on to say “Donna even came to dad’s funeral which was so lovely. We gave her a shout our for the wonderful care she provided. The hospice will always have a big place in my heart.”
