Story
Buffalo State College houses a hidden gem: the Historic Costume and Textile Collection, which contains more than 1,500 garments, textiles, and accessories dating as far back as the mid-nineteenth century.
Maintained by the Fashion and Textile Technology Department, the Historic Costume and Textile Collection is used for education, exhibition, research, design inspiration, and class projects.
But maintaining the collection is a huge undertaking. And while there is tremendous potential for students to gain hands-on experience curating the collection and conducting interdisciplinary research, we need your help to make it happen.
Please make a gift to the Historic Costume and Textile Collection Fund. Your support will help us fund student opportunities to work with this treasure trove of historical textiles.
P.S. - Don't forget to stop by campus and see the collection's current exhibit, Vibrant Patterns and Prints: Cotton Endures in the 1960s and 1970s, created by Professor Arlesa Shephard and museum studies graduate student Shayna Diamond. The exhibit will be on display on the third floor of the Technology Building through mid-October.
