The GRIT Scholarship
Lend a helping hand to Buffalo State students who demonstrate GRIT: Guts, Resilience, Impact, and Tenacity.

The GRIT Scholarship is used to provide merit-based scholarships to Buffalo State students, not based on GPA but based on a student's demonstrated Guts, Resilience, Impact, and Tenacity. The scholarship was conceived after Michael Bonitatibus, Lackawanna native, Buffalo State alumnus, and long time Buffalo State Foundation board member read Angela Duckworth's "GRIT, The Power of Passion and Perseverance." Mike believes that the smallest amount of GRIT, when combined with financial support and the passion of a faculty member, is invaluable in setting a student on a lifelong path of success.
The GRIT Scholarship may be presented to students at any point during their Buffalo State journey. Eligibility is based on the nomination of a caring faculty member or campus advocate, and the scholarship is renewable upon the continued nomination by that faculty member.
