Story
BSUH Charity is thrilled to annouce our small but mighty Trolley Push team will be running the 2022 Brighton Marathon whilst pushing a trolley. Our team consists of NHS staff members and students who care about University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and want to give back to their local hospital.
Your support will be spent on improving care for patients at the Royal Sussex County Hospital's Emergency Department over and above what is already provided with core government funding. The team of doctors and nurses do a remarkable job taking care of patients' medical needs. They've identified a need that would go beyond medical care and improve patients' wellbeing while in the department.
To meet this need, we are raising money to provide a calm, serene environment throughout the Emergency Department. This will be accomplished through things like:
- Ceiling tiles that provide peaceful, scenic views for patients that are waiting for test results
- Creation of a 'Serenity Room' for patients with dementia, autism or learning disabilities and their carers
- Transportable Toolkits of appropriate activities and resources for patients with dementia, autism or learning disabilites (to include items like drawing paper, newspapers, books, stress balls, fidget toys, easy-read information about the Emergency Department, etc.)
- Simplified maps of the Emergency Department
Your donation today will bring us closer to being able to make these improvements to our Emergency Department. Please help motivate our Trolley Push Team and help us meet our target!
Thousands of runners, spectators and supporters come to Brighton during the marathon weekend. Many of the staff at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust volunteer on the medical team that assess and treat runners during the event. Our A&E Department also requires extra staffing to ensure we are able to look after the surge in our local population for the weekend.
Please thank the A&E team for their incredible commitment and care by making a donation today!
