Story
This Harvest we are asking our Bromley Borough Community to continue their generous support by fundraising donations so that together we can continue to serve those who are going hungry within our Borough.
In early 2020, the average monthly household income after housing costs for people who needed to use a food bank was £248 on average, or £8 a day for a couple without children. This needs to cover energy and water costs, council tax, food, and other essentials and is just 13% of the average national income.
Could you survive on this budget?
What would you go without and how would that impact your life?
As we head into the Autumn and Winter season, we know we are once again likely to see an increase in those needing our service, particularly with the removal of the £20 universal Credit uplift coming into effect this October. It is a sad fact that many will face difficult decisions and will subsequently suffer periods of being cold and hungry. Your giving is a lifeline to those we serve. It means we are able to provide 7 days worth of nutrionally balance food to those in need, as well as direct access to an advice service on how to maximise their income. Fuel support can also be obtained for those who are without fuel to ensure they can cook the food we provide.
Harvest is traditionally a time when we collect our food donations. However with our recent move to a much smaller sized warehouse in Ashgrove Industrial Estate, Bromley we are needing to manage our stock in a new way as we settle into our new home. The cost of this new venue is £30000pa and therefore your giving provides us long term security as well as flexibitlity in offering a variety of services as mentioned above. Therefore we invite you to please help us if you are able and contribute however you can, whether as an individual donation or by taking part in our fundraising as a group or organisation.
Together lets show our Bromley residents that we continue to be a community that cares!
On behalf of all of us here at Bromley Borough Foodbank and those we serve, thank you for your continued support and kindness.
