Story
This event is the first Ultra run organised by Focus4Hope and Brodstock and it is not for the faint hearted!
This is not a race it is a friendly team challenge to run 37 miles around rugby clubs in our community and help to rise vital funds to support the vulnerable. It is however a huge challenge and we are so thankful for your support.
Focus4Hope is a registered charity, based in Brighouse, that seeks to provide support for the homeless, elderly, isolated, and vulnerable in West Yorkshire. We were founded in 2016 as a community-based group of friends, who wanted to develop ways of collectively making a difference in the region. From these humble beginnings, our organisation has gone on to become a pillar in the local charitable community.
We have had the great pleasure of helping thousands of vulnerable people in our area, as well as refugees in France. Here in our local region, we predominantly work with the elderly, the homeless, those who are fleeing domestic violence, and isolated/lonely individuals in need of support.
We opened our new community hub in February 2023 along with our charity shop Replenish and changed our food bank into a social supermarket model.
Focus4Hope is known in the community as a group that always rises to the occasion, going above and beyond. We strive to help people of all backgrounds, without judgement; leading with care and empathy in everything that we do.
The "Old Brods" is a Community Amateur Sports Club, based in Halifax, that’s dedicated to inspiring participation in sport and promoting rugby's core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
Over 375 girls, boys, women and men, from 3 years old, play there every week.
Their brilliant volunteers - from committee members to team managers - are committed to providing the very best for the membership and local area.
Old Brods is a proud recipient of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups) cited as “providing rugby for all ages and delivering huge benefits to their community”.
They take their role in the community seriously and help with things locally as much as they can.
Every summer they host the Brodstock Music Festival, one of Yorkshire's biggest annual benefit concerts. Not only does the event help the club financially over the off-season but, in complete collaboration with others, it has also raised over £175,000 for local causes since it began in 2014.
Your sponsor is greatly received and will help vulnerable people in our community.
