Story
Brinsworth House lies at the heart of the Royal Variety Charity It is unique and often referred to by many in the industry as The Old Pros Paradise. For people who have spent their lives serving the entertainment profession, it could not be more important to be allowed to spend their twilight years surrounded by people who share interests and similar life experiences. The Royal Variety Charity is dedicated to ensure this can remain a reality for anyone who needs it, despite of their personal financial circumstances.
The care home has gone through a significant period of change over the last 20 years, which has seen it move from a residential home to providing nursing care. This continues to present difficult challenges due to the layout and design of the building. Brinsworth House was converted to become a care home in 1911. It has served the entertainment community ever since. As years have passed and needs of residents have changed , the home is now in need of refurbishment.
People are now living longer, fuller lives, so requirements have altered and intensified over the years but the primary mission, the provision of a safe and secure residential care home, solely supported purely by public donations, remains unaltered. The Royal Variety Charity want this to long continue but recognise the need for change.
The refurbishment plans are imperative now to secure the future of Brinsworth House, but this cannot be possible without the help and generosity of loyal supporters and like-minded individuals and organisations.
