Story
BRIGHT is a small charity that works to improve the lives of those with Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancers ( cancers that affect the digestive system). BRIGHT has recently expanded its work to include Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) cancers ( cancers that affect the liver, pancreas, and biliary system).BRIGHT is based at the Royal Surrey county hospital in Guildford but covers the whole of the South East of the United Kingdom.
BRIGHT aims to provide funds to support ongoing research into improving treatment options and outcomes for patients with GI and HPB cancers. BRIGHT also helps fund the purchase of new equipment for a whole range of GI and HPB cancer treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other advanced treatments.
BRIGHT is currently fundraising for a Nanoknife machine for the treatment of pancreatic cancers and GI cancers that have spread to the liver but which are surgically inoperable. Few hospitals in the UK have access to this treatment therefore having the ability to offer Nanoknife to suitable patients at the Royal Surrey County Hospital would be a significant improvement for patient care.
