Boo has been helping children in Kenya who are impacted by extreme poverty through the provision of education and life skills training for 19 years. Our projects have a huge impact on a child's life, since education, nurturing, mentorship and knowledge provides children with the tools and opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty.
Boo Projects have enabled 1,000's of children just like Esther's story below, to achieve just that. Children who have become small business owners, employed others. Raised their own families in a sustainable way and risen to become highly respected key contributing members of the local community.
Esther Jomo's Story: Esther graduated from Nyamache Life Skills Centre in 2018. She now has a very successful business. She not only sells her clothes within Suguta Market, but as far as Borangi Market and Nyamache Town as well.
Esther started by getting a sewing machine, cutting table, stool, charcoal iron, license and three months rent from the Boo Business Roots Programme. She made her first dress while still training in school and wore it going home and later made another one for her graduation. The quality of the dress and the design was so good that word soon spread and she now makes many items for her large clientele.
Usually Esther makes school uniforms for nearby schools and also church choirs. She supports her three brothers and two sisters by putting them through school since her mother is a farmer on a low income.
