Raising money for BMECP Foodbank

Organised by The Bmecp Centre

We are trying to raise money to feed the vulnerable members of our society during these unprecedented challenging times. 75% of BME people have been severely affected by this pandemic, so we want to reach out and aid those in need.

The BMECP centre believes in making a difference. The purpose of our projects are to create a training and resource centre that will be focused primarily but not exclusively on meeting the needs of the BMECP Community in Brighton. We strive to support those facing great disadvantage and extreme isolation. To provide training and learning for individuals and groups and also to focus on community development, infrastructure support and enterprise services. Our vision is to create a sustainable resource centre which champions the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community in Brighton and Hove and supports BME communities and their families. Our aim as an infrastructure organisation is to promote community cohesion.

Story

During these unprecedented times brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, a hunger crisis has emerged with the need for emergency food at a record high. The members of our community who already faced food insecurity are finding it increasingly difficult to provide for their children and families, and with unemployment on the rise and people being unable to leave their homes, it is vital that we provide them with the support they need to sustain themselves and their loved ones. This is why we have decided to set up a much-needed Foodbank within our centre; we want to reach out to the BME community and help struggling families as much as we can.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This is where we need the help of our local businesses and community members. Food and money donations are desperately needed in order for us to cater to the needs of our community and prevent families from suffering from hunger during these desperate times. Additionally, those who are willing to donate some of their time and volunteer for this amazing cause are much appreciated and vital in ensuring the smooth operation and success of this Foodbank.
