Story

Give the Blue Tigers a Winning Start

We’ve launched The Blue Tigers, a new cricket team for 18 unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people from Afghanistan, in partnership with the YMCA. Every week, they come together to train, build friendships, and grow in confidence.

But this is about more than cricket. These young people have faced unimaginable journeys to get here — arriving without family or support, and trying to rebuild their lives from scratch. Blue Tigers offers them a safe space, routine, and a sense of belonging through sport.

“When I wear the shirt, I feel like I’m part of something. Like I matter.”

— Blue Tigers player, age 13

Their first match is on 1st May — and we want to kit them out with pride. With help from local business Coes, we’re nearly there — but we still need to raise £700 to buy team shirts, pads, bats, and bags.
