Story

Shirley was diagnosed with sight loss two years ago. She just didnt know how to cope and felt entirely overwhelmed. She felt hopeless and had completely lost her way post diagnosis. She was referred to BlindAid by social services and was highly emotional and upset when she first met with her Sight Support Worker.

BlindAid's Sight Support Worker helped Shirley get back on her feet. She was understanding and offered advice as Shirley began to come to terms with her sight loss. She helped Shirley to apply for the benefits she was entitled to and provided support with accessible technology as Shirley found it too difficult to leave home at the time.

Through events such as this and your generous donations, we are able to continue the work that we strive to do supporting people as they go through the trauma and life changing effects of sight loss.

We offer practical and emotional support to blind and visually impaired Londoners. Join our amazing community Every pound we receive and every action you take helps us reach more people with sight loss. Our Sight Support workers offer emotional and practical support to over 1000 blind and partially sighted people. But the need is much greater: in our community there are still thousands of people who are left alone to deal with the impact of visual impairment. That is why we need your support: to help us reach every single person that is feeling isolated. Each gift we receive will ensure we can offer support, advice and reassurance to people with a visual impairment when they need it most.
