Story
The B.L.A.C.C. Fund Giving Circle officially launched in 2014 with more than 50 professionals and has raised thousands of dollars in critical contributions since its founding.
Our mission is to transform the African American community in Los Angeles and harness our collective giving power to support organizations working on the front lines of social justice in L.A. We awards grants to organizations that work to empower the African American community in the areas of education, economic, and leadership development.
Our principles include: TRUTH - efforts that are grounded in the liberation of Black people, acknowledging the need to equitably shift the power relationship between black and white populations; STRENGTH - efforts that support the capacity of Black people to mobilize our individual, collective and community assets toward systemic change; STRATEGIC DISRUPTION - efforts that boldly confront conditions that perpetuate inequity, from narratives that justify racial difference, indignity and oppression to policies that reinforce the same; and LOVE - efforts that facilitate avenues by which Black people can pursue self-and-community care to heal from the trauma of systemic racism.
Membership begins at $25 a month ($300/year) with no maximum. Contributors at $50 a month or more (minimum $600/year) are given a vote in deciding which organizations receive a grant from B.L.A.C.C.
All members are invited to our quarterly Lunch and Learn events, Proposition Parties, and other community building and outreach events. Members who contribute at the $600/year level are invited to attend an annual private event.
