The Birmingham Young Carers team from Spurgeons is undertaking its Olympic Challenge this July – working together to walk, run, or cycle 500 miles while raising £500 pounds for Spurgeons Young Carers.
The team are directly supporting young carers—the unsung heroes who balance caring responsibilities with their education.
This challenge will not only raise vital funds, it will also shine a spotlight on young carers and ensure they receive the recognition and support they deserve.
Spurgeons provides young carer support for over 800 young people aged 5 to 18 through its Young Carers service in Birmingham. By raising £500, they will be able to provide additional activities for young carers during the summer holidays.
The average young carer is just 12 years old and Spurgeons provide a wealth of support, including regular groups which offer opportunities to develop friendships and share similar life experiences, trips and activities during the school holidays, and structured 1-1 programmes to help young carers to explore how they feel and providing strategies to help them manage their responsibilities.
Over the years you’ve given my girls such amazing support and the most wonderful experiences. I cannot thank you enough
