Story
DMT Dachshund Rescue & Support Group is a registered charity (SCO51269) with the sole purpose of rescuing dachshunds from the meat trade in Asia and bringing them to loving homes in the UK
To date (April 2023) we have rescued 135 Dachshunds and dachshund crosses from the meat trade, breeding facilities and kill shelters in China, Korea and Vietnam. We also work proactively with other rescue organisations and support them to rescue other breeds.
In late summer 2023, we are hoping to fly 9 dogs from China to the UK into their forever homes. These are 7 Puppies Brae, Colin, Dougie, Eric, Forest, Gigi and Huey, their mum Adele and little Tilly who was someone's pet abandoned because she got ill.
We didn't think the puppies or Tilly would survive but fast forward a few months and we have 9 healthy dogs who will soon be looking for their forever homes. The flights will come at a significant cost for the charity and so on 4th June we (and our own daxies) will be taking on a mammoth sponsored walk in two locations Aviemore and Sunderland.
This is where you come in, we need all the pennies we can get and therefore we would be so grateful if you can give anything to help go towards the flight costs, no amount is too small. Give us and our rescues some support :)
All are welcome to join us on either walk, details are below:
-Aviemore, meet at the top of the Cairngorm Mountain at 11am on 4th June, walk 10 miles down into Aviemore. Finishing at The Old Bridge in for light snacks and drinks. 10 miles too far? We will also have a 5 mile option to allow everyone to join in.
-Sunderland, meet at 10am at the bottom of Penshaw Monument for a walk to the top. There will be a second meeting point at 10:45am at Herrington Park then a circular walk around the park, finishing up at around 12:30pm
