The Big Sleep Out is back! Could you swap your bed for a sleeping bag and cardboard box to help prevent homelessness in Reading?
Bigger and better than ever before, this years Big Sleep Out is taking place on World Homeless Day and in a brand new location - the iconic and historic Reading Abbey Ruins. And we'd love you to join us in braving the outdoors for the night so people facing homelessness in Reading don't have to.
Big Sleep Out doesn't aim to replicate homelessness - participants sleep out for just one night and the evening will include entertainment, food and some special guests. But it does offers a brief insight into some of the things you might face if you are street homeless, such as cold temperatures, an uncomfortable bed and limited sleep.
The vital funds you raise by sleeping out will enable us to continue supporting Reading's most vulnerable people and prevent homelessness in the town. Launchpads vital preventing homelessness services offer housing and homelessness-related information and support, tailored support to help people address the root of their housing problem so they can obtain and sustain a long-term home, and legal advice and action to avoid situations like unlawful evictions.
