Story
The Bodie Hodges Foundation is a local Leicestershire based charity that supports families who have been bereaved of a child. The charity was established in 2013 by Nick and Donna Hodges after the death of their ten-month-old son Bodie. They wanted to offer support to other bereaved families as their experience highlighted how isolating losing a child was. The charity has now become well-regarded regionally for its sensitive, effective professional bereavement services and support groups to adults and children in their darkest hour of grief.
Our current bereavement provision includes:
Bodies Bereavement Services - Families can access 1-1 early therapeutic support and counselling services for up to 2 years after the death of their child. We also run a range of peer support groups including 'Chips and a Chat' our newest support group, created solely for bereaved dads as well as Creative Grief for Mums which meets monthly.
Sibling Support - gentle 1-1 sessions with siblings in school or at Bodies House, which help children to understand their grief and support memory making. Groups include our #TogetherProject youth group which us aimed at 11-16yr olds. We also provide groups for younger siblings during the year.
Bodie's Treasured Memory Bags are sent out to bereaved siblings across the whole of the UK. They have been expertly designed with professionals to create conversations about death and grief, helping the whole family to talk.
