Story

A shocking 20% of the children in our local community live in poverty!

We regularly hear from our referrers about families where children do not have a bed of their own, instead, they are sleeping on the floor, the sofa, or share a bed with another family member.

In 2017 we decided we wanted to do more for the local community and launched our A Bed for Every Child campaign. We now provide beds to dozens of children, referred to us by local professionals, such as social workers, and health visitors, each year. Each single bed frame, mattress, duvet, pillow, sheets and covers cost around £300.

The knock-on effects of children having their own bed are manifold they include: a better night's sleep, which in turn leads to better concentration and performance at school, enhanced health and wellbeing, reduced risk of sexual abuse, and a raised sense of self-esteem that comes with having ones own items.

Thank you so much, on behalf of all the families we support.
