Story
With your support we gather food from supermarkets, wholesalers and manufacturers that would ordinarily go to waste. We take that food and share it with more than 100 Food Banks across The Fylde who serve those in need and crisis.
Take Shauna as an example. She has lived and worked in Blackpool most of her life until one day she was hospitalised after suffering from a heart attack.
When she was discharged from the hospital she was alarmed to discover that she had lost her job and also her home, having been evicted whilst away.
Unsure what to do Shauna spent time sleeping rough under North Pier. She didn't know where to begin and even under those circumstances felt troubled by asking for help.
She did however need to eat and this urged her to seek comfort and a warm meal with a local community organisation that we supply.
Once there she was offered a warm and nutritious meal and over several visits offered an abundance of support and guidance to help her get re-established and back to independence.
There's Abby too, a young single Mother with 2 small children. Abby has always prided herself on the support she provides for herself and 2 growing kids, working hard and ensuring they have everything they need.
Due to a downturn in trade Abby found herself with less hours at work last winter and started looking for additional work right away. Opportunities were few and far between which led to things becoming extra tight financially to the point Abby had to choose between food and topping up her pre-payment card for electricity, her only source of heating.
We were able to supply enough food to see the family through until Abby was able to find additional work and get back on her feet.
In the last year we have shared more than 500,000 meals across the Fylde. We would love to be able to do more, help more and save more people from food insecurity and crisis.
