Story
Bees Abroad has been relieving poverty for 21 years. We have over 40 live projects in 12 countries, across three continents. During this time we have helped to lift 50,000 people out of poverty. Research shows that income of a small community is improved by 20% and pollination of local crops is increased by 100%.
"I have seen first hand the empowering effects of beekeeping in the developing world, and the benefits are remarkable. They can be surprising too - some communities even use beehives to protect their crops from elephants! Bees Abroad is exactly the sort of initiative that really makes a difference to people's lives" - Prof Adam Hart
We are a global community of volunteer expert beekeepers and field practitioners who have skills to share and wish to improve the lives of those the poorest countries. Beekeeping is inclusive, sustainable and environmentally friendly. There are no gender or age barriers and our projects are inclusive of women, young people and the disabled. Locally available materials and labour is all we need to make everything from hives to protective clothing. The Bees area readily available and free.
Please help us to continue our work by giving a donation to projects. We are a very small charity, with volunteer 15 partnership managers and very low overheads. Our money raised is used directly to fund our work in the poorest countries.
