Story
Beekeepers for Life is a Bees Abroad initiative. Empowering women to become leaders, trainers, and entrepreneurs - through the creation of Beekeepers For Life communities.
This campaign builds on the success of current Bees Abroad women-led beekeeping projects in communities across Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda.
There are many barriers to women becoming beekeepers cultural, environmental and financial:
A traditional male preserve
Wild hives dangerous to handle, remote locations
No money to purchase training courses, hives and equipment
Bees Abroad remove those barriers through dedicated training, equipment and support that spans activities starting with the classroom, progressing to constructing hives, making beesuits and establishing apiaries through to harvesting and selling honey and wax products.
We recognise the power of beekeeping to change lives by providing a sustainable income and livelihood.
100% of membership donations go towards funding community projects.
