Ethan's Story
Ethan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age three. Following his diagnosis, he began treatment in Indianapolis. Soon, however, his parents opted to continue Ethan's treatment at Beacon Children's Hospital, much closer to home. As Ethan's father, Neal, has shared:
"At first, Ethan was VERY apprehensive about going [to the hospital] and allowing them to access his port for treatment. However, within a very short time in dealing with the nursing staff, doctors, and Child Life Specialists, a part of his old, playful, energetic self was starting to return!"
Ethan started out going to Beacon on a weekly basis as his treatment plan required. In that time, he built strong relationships with the staff. Currently, he only has to go to the hospital once a month for chemo treatments, but he looks forward to going now! He LOVES visiting his friends at the hospital and showing them a toy or telling them about his latest, greatest tee ball moment!
As Neal recently said, "Words can't really express the gratitude that my family and I have for all the staff at Beacon Children's Hospital. Each individual really makes you feel like family, and they do their best to make each visit as pleasant and worry free as they can."
