Story
The former Beacon Bingo building in Loughborough is in need of significant help. Can you help restore it? Originally a cinema built in 1936, it became a bingo club from the 1970’s. Sadly, this closed permanently in 2021 with the loss of 18 jobs.
The building has not been maintained for at least two years, and if we had not purchased it, there was the very real danger of further serious maintenance issues developing. It would be a real shame if such a beautiful building were lost due to neglect.
We are going to take care of this iconic building so that it becomes a Beacon of Hope in our town. This will begin by repairing leaks on the roof. In the next couple of years, we want to completely replace the roof. We’re also going to replace the old heating system by installing a brand new & more efficient system which is also environmentally friendly. Looking ahead, we’re going to renew the original theatre too so it serves the local community.
Instead of this fine old building going to waste, we are going to give it some serious TLC. In a world that often seems cynical & negative, we want this building to be a Beacon of Hope for generations to come. The building will serve the community through services, youth clubs, kids clubs, food banks, warm spaces, family fun events, performances and a weekly soup kitchen….to mention but a few things!
Any donations you can give will be deeply appreciated. It will be amazing to see the fine old building get a whole new lease of life, and its longevity will be safe. Thanks for donating!
