Story
Aoife's Bubbles Charity was born from the ultimate loss, a mother's loss.
On 7th July 2019, Aoife Flanagan suffered a fatal cardiac arrest aged 3 at Great Ormond Street Hospital in her Mummy's arms. Following a tragic and fatal misdiagnosis - Aoife should still be here, her cancer failed to be diagnosed on the 10+ occasions Aoife's Mummy, Eilish sought help for her daughter in the weeks leading up to her death. Aoife had her cancer diagnosis for just 5 days before unexpectedly collapsing, due to the extent of her disease.
A family run charity, with real lived experience understands the need to make provisions for children with cancer and their families.
Aoife's brothers have lost a life time of memory making with their sister.
Aoife's parents and wider family lost a life time of milestones with their precious daughter.
Childhood cancer treatments are grueling and often it is difficult for children to go away for extended periods during their treatment and the high risk of infection makes it extremely difficult for parents to pre book daily activities.
Services for bereaved parents and siblings is also extremely limited, often having to find their own way through the abys which is child loss.
With all the above said, we are in the very early stages of seeking to purchase our very own Charity beach hut, so that we can offer a safe respite space 365 days a year, so children can feel the sand in between their toes while taking on the fight of their life. We would also like to offer a serene and quiet space for bereaved families to visit.
Aoife's Bubbles Charity will also fund transport costs for children using the beach hut to ensure the service is accessible to those children and their families using it.
We would like to purchase the beach hut within the Frinton on Sea area, as this is a outstanding beach but is also easily accessible, with free parking, ramped access to the sand areas and, a very special place to Aoife herself.
