Story

The British Dyslexia Association stands beside everyone with dyslexia to help them reach their full potential in education, in work and in life. Our goal is to eliminate affordability as a barrier to accessing assessments.

A Diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia is the only way that dyslexia can be formally identified. Diagnostic assessments for Dyslexia are carried out by experienced specialist teachers and psychologists across the UK. As dyslexia is not a medical condition, a diagnostic assessment it is not covered by the NHS. There is no direct funding for diagnostic assessments in schools, colleges or anywhere else, generally assessments have to be paid for by the individual person, parent or employer. Assessments typically cost between £450-£750. Those that can not afford assessments miss out on vital support.

A donation to our bursary assessment fund will help to eliminate this barrier to support and ensure everyone with dyslexia, regardless of their income bracket, is able to obtain a diagnosis and get the support they deserve. Thank you.
